The Field Museum of Natural History is also called The Field Museum of Natural History and is an amazing natural history museum, located in Chicago, Illinois. The Field Museum was founded in 1854 and has since become one of the most popular museums in all of North America. It is unique in that it is able to present science in an actual natural environment. This is made possible by the use of thousands of specimens and hundreds of thousands of artifacts that are carefully arranged in over 1200 exhibits. The Field Museum has been a source of inspiration for many science fiction writers including H. G. Wells.

The Field Museum of Natural History was established by J. W. Spearman, who had earlier designed the nearby Chicago Zoo. In remembered jokes, the former director of the Chicago Zoo was said to have dressed in clothes made from the bones of bears. These stories have given rise to the name “St Spearman” which is where the name of the museum came from. It is a distinctive feature of the museum, which sets it apart from all other natural history museums. Some of the collections of the museum include dinosaur bones and teeth, as well as Egyptian mummies.

It houses artifact collections that span the natural history, archaeology, anthropology, zoology, and home science. It also houses the paleontological section which features various prehistoric artifacts.

Apart from exhibiting artifacts, the Chicago area has a number of natural history museums as well.
