If you are an avid fan of ancient human civilizations such as the Romans, Egyptians, or Greeks then you may have discovered that some of their greatest inventions were made in the ancient Mediterranean. This is true whether you are talking about pottery, weapons, or even farming. Let’s take a look at what all of these things were used for.

Pottery and ceramics were among the first things used by ancient human civilizations. The earliest known pottery was created roughly 5000 years ago. At this time, people were still very much dependent on nature for their food. Much of the food taken from the earth was gathered and stored in large wooden storage areas. At this time, the development of civilization started to shape the landscape of the Earth, resulting in great agricultural prosperity.

An Overview

When the people on the Mediterranean began to farm land, the domestication of animals soon followed. At first, these farm animals were meant to provide meat for the people who farmed them. As the years passed, the development of agriculture helped to transform the landscape of the ancient human civilizations. With the use of more advanced tools, the population of the Mediterranean began to grow as the years passed.

Another thing that all three ancient human civilizations had in common was their reliance on astrology. This began to be practiced in the middle ages in Europe, and eventually spread to the rest of the world. This allowed the individuals of the Roman, Greek, or Egyptian civilizations to predict the future. Many of the ancient civilisations became so skilled at predicting the future that they were able to become wealthy beyond their wildest dreams. There is no telling how far our ability to predict the future has progressed today, but it is safe to say that the ancient peoples knew more than their contemporaries who lived a much simpler life.

Egyptian Impacts In Western Culture

The development of writing eventually became necessary, and this greatly enhanced the cultural level of the ancient civilizations. Writing allows us to document important information that would otherwise have been passed through orally. Thus, the written word became a crucial aspect to the way that the ancient peoples maintained control over their empire. If the rulers of a city could not write effectively, then that city might quickly lose its grip on its empire.

All three of the aforementioned civilizations enjoyed a highly sophisticated technology level. This technology allowed the Romans to construct one of the most advanced and powerful empires of the ancient period. The Roman Empire stretched across much of Europe and into Asia. Ancient Rome, however, was not unique in the technological capabilities that it possessed. Every great civilization before the age of writing possessed some form of technological superiority.

No matter which type of technological development was developed first, it helped to shape the direction of the ancient West. When the West began to develop complex religious and political systems, it was helped along by the Egyptian and Roman civilizations. Each new piece of technology that was developed enabled the ancient West to become more powerful and more cohesive.

In The End

Archaeologists have found many examples of weaponry that were used by ancient Egyptians and Phoenicians, both of which had a tremendous impact on the shaping of Western culture. In addition to all of the incredible finds that have been found in the last century or so, a large part of the cultural history of Western society can be tied back to the ancient Phoenicians and Egyptians. These two cultures developed a great relationship with each other and, in turn, built the foundation for what would become the greatest state in the ancient world. Understanding how these two cultures impacted the development of the modern world can help us understand why so much of today’s world is formed the way it is.
