Great Scientists In Astronomy

If we check our history, we can see how much our scientists have struggled to discover something in the sky.  Moreover, they understood what the sky is, what is the solar system, what the earth is, and many more. Moreover, most of them are great scientists who have got their masters in many fields. Furthermore, they gave a proper understanding of the universe and the galaxy. Therefore, let us check out some of the great scientists in astronomy.

Scientists In Astronomy Claudius Ptolemy (A.D. 90 – 168)

Ptolemy is an astronomer and great mathematician. Ptolemy set up a model of the solar system. He told everyone that the stars, sun, and other planets revolving around the earth. Therefore, this theory is known as the Ptolemaic system. In fact, it remained for thousands of years, though it was wrong. According to NASA reports, Ptolemy represented the knowledge of Grecian astronomy as he is from Greece.

Check out this Solar System Planetary Instrument Model, which is the best instrumental model. In other words, educate your children on the different planets and the set-up. It also glows in the dark so that it will be fun and enjoyable for the kids. It is an ideal gift for kids who is below six years old.

Eratosthenes (276 – 195 B.C)

One of the most believes that everyone has that the world was flat. Eratosthenes is a notable astronomer, mathematician, and great geographer. To measure the earth, he used the sun. According to his measurements, it was only 39690 kilometers, which is approx. to the real analysis.

Nicolaus Copernicus (1473 – 1543); Best Scientists In Astronomy

Nicolaus Copernicus was the Poland astronomer. He proposed the theory of the planets and the solar system. However, even though his model was wrong, most astronomers struggled to view the solar system.

Galileo Galilei (1564 – 1642); Best Scientists In Astronomy

Galileo was born in Italy. He got the credit with the discovery of the telescope. Galileo modeled his first telescope in the year 1609 and produced some components which can magnify the objects. He also made a telescope that can magnify the objects in twenty times. Galileo was a great astronomer, physicist, philosopher, and mathematician. He discovered the four main moons of Jupiter, known as Galilean moons, and also the rings of Saturn.

Christiaan Huygens (1629 – 1695)

Huygens was a Dutch scientist and proposed the theory of the nature of light. He also proposed a phenomenon that puzzles most of the scientists for thousands of years. However, his advancements made him make the first observation of Saturn’s rings.

Charles Messier (1730 – 1817)

Messier was the French astronomer and composed a database objects called Nebulae. However, it added almost 103 objects at the final publication. He also added some additional objects in his personal diary, which was not revealed. Even, he discovered 13 comets in his lifetime.
