The Pyramids are completely entangled with Egyptian history and culture. Egyptians constructed the Pyramids during the 3rd century BC as the large triangular-shaped tombs for Egyptian Emperors or Pharaohs. Khufu’s Pyramid, also called the Great Pyramid, is located in the suburbs of Cairo. This enormous Pyramid occupies 13 acres of land and is one of the largest buildings in the world. It has been 5000 years, but the creation of Pyramids still makes us amazed. 

Hanging Garden Of Babylon, One Of The Most Beautiful Ancient Wonders Of The World

The famous Babylonian ruler  Nebuchadnezzar II built this beautiful Hanging Garden near the Euphrates River. The location of the garden’s site is in present-day Iraq. Constructed around 600 BCE, the garden was at 75 feet above the ground. As there is no mention of the garden in Babylonian Cuneiforms and other historical records, many historians doubt the real existence of the garden during those times.

Temple Of Artemis

The Temple of Artemis is located at Ephesus which was a trading center for the Greeks. Presently, Ephesus is located in the western part of present-day Turkey. Besides the temple of Artemis, there existed other temples and sculptures at the original site. Some famous artists and sculptors of the contemporary era decorate these marble made temples with great grandeur.

The Mausoleum Of Halicarnassus, One Of The Most Important Ancient Wonders Of The World

It was one of the earliest mausoleums in the world. Halicarnassus is located in the southwestern part of Turkey. Queen Artemisia built this tomb to honor her deceased husband King Mausolus. He was the ruler of Carnia and passed away in 353 B.C. It was a white marble mausoleum with a height of 135 feet. Today, the site is in ruins, and British Museum has preserved some of its artifacts.

The Colossus Of Rhodes 

The Colossus Of Rhodes is an enormous sculpture made of Bronze. During the 3rd Century BC, the Rhodians made this sculpture of Helio, the sun god. It took almost 12 years to complete the construction of the statue.

Lighthouse Of Alexandria 

The Lighthouse of Alexandria was situated in the small island Pharos near the port of Alexandria. The construction of the lighthouse finished in 270 BC during the rule of King Ptolemy II. The purpose of this significant lighthouse was to help ships move swiftly towards and outwards of the harbor.

Statue Of Zeus

Athenian artist Phidias constructed the statue of Zeus during the middle part of the 5th century BC. The temple of Zeus in Olympia was the first location to place this statue. Later, the statue was relocated to Constantinople where the statue caught fire in 462.

The ancient wonders of the world bear a great significance in expressing the culture and artistry of the ancient era. It can be said without an iota of doubt that the ancient wonders cannot be recreated today, even with advanced technologies.
