The pyramids situated in Egypt’s city Giza are the ancient wonders of the world that are still there. Among these pyramids, the largest pyramid is the Great Pyramid that is definitely worth seeing. These pyramids were built by Egypt’s pharaohs some 4,500 years ago for constructing massive tombs for themselves from where they guided themselves to the next world and become gods in the afterlife. Talking about the first and the largest pyramid, it was commissioned by Pharaoh Khufu. The pyramid measures about 481 feet and has special chambers, temples, and other features.

Taj Mahal, India

Another man-made structure that is prominent among other world wonders is the Taj Mahal. The ivory-white marble building was built by about 20,000 laborers after been ordered by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan who wanted to honor it to his most beloved wife, late Mumtaj Mahal. The Taj Mahal complex has landscaped gardens and other monuments too. The dazzling building gets blue, rose, and golden hues at various times of the day and night.

Colosseum, Italy

This oval amphitheater located in Rome in Italy was commissioned by Emperor Vespasian around A.D. 70-72. Later, his son opened it and launched it for conducting 100 days of games including wild animal fights. The structure was the largest amphitheater of that time and easily accommodated about 50,000-80,000 spectators. Built of concrete, tuff, and limestone, Colosseum was active for about four centuries and eventually fell into neglect.

Banaue Rice Terraces, Philippines

These are the terraces built in the mountainous area of Banaue in the Philippines by predecessors of the native people. The terraces are considered to be very old and are said to be built mainly by hands. They are located about 4,900 feet above the level of the sea and are fed by rainforests as well as the irrigation system.

Listed in the 7 new wonders of the world list, the Great Wall of China is the longest man-made monument with a length of 13,170.70 miles. It was constructed back in the 7th century BC by the Chinese empires that made the wall so as to protect themselves from nomadic groups. The wall made from bricks, stones, wood, and rammed earth is generally a collection of walls.
